Setting up SSL even for small sites can be a HUGE PITA. Adding a Custom Cert to CloudFlare will cost you 200 a month[1]. It shouldn't be hard and you should have to pay such a premium for something that should just work by default. I h

We haven't changed. We are just launching our open source server / APF first, building a little more community around that and then we will launch Harp.io.

Today we launched our open source tool, but we also have a hosted platform that is build on Dropbox. See harp.io for that. We have hung out with the Backlift guys - they are awesome.

You should have a look at the Joyent Smart Playform. I think it is very similar, supports CommonJS and Git style deploy. (Plus it is open source) http://github.com/joyent/smart-platform
