Oh, that would make a lot more sense. I live in LA proper and don't really venture out to meetups outside of the city. There's plenty of game companies here (the significant other works at one), but I suppose I meant more along the lines of

Los Angeles is a tech city? I've lived in LA forever, but just now started to really notice an actual tech community..I never really felt the same vibe here as I do in the bay. And of course it annoys me to no end that half the tech events

Try Help > Colloquy Chat Room. I'm there as 'jane', and maybe I'm not there all the time, but I can try to help when I am :) Also you might want to try building from svn, I've got some builds up on http://janeylicious.com/colloquy/ if

I can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing. The only reason why I'd want flash on my iPhone is for some websites...but a lot of those rely on the assumption that the user is using a mouse. Lots of menus are difficult to navigate

It's possible , but whether you actually want to and have the know-how is a different matter. I would assume that the cost of a used MacBook or Mac mini would end up being more cost-effective in the long run than finding any other way to d

The definition of "reading easily" is subjective. As I noted in my other comment here, Scribd is not very accessible with what is arguably the only screenreader for OS X, while the original documents (pdf, word, ppt, excel, txt, etc.) were.

But pretty much any browser can display PDFs just fine without having to open a separate reader, and that's the defacto format for documents on the web. Occasionally you will come across other formats like word or rtf, but there are browser

I'm going through this right now for nanowrimo. ;) At first I used word (very lame, I know), but a friend recommended Scrivener ( http://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.html ) to me a while ago, and I've been using that instead, but it

To many people on HN, "fifty cents" for an apple is not that expensive, neither is $2.50 for some milk...I know I easily spend that on a bottle or two of Bawls or 50x that on a new toy for my laptop, or even 100x that on a single nice anniv

I don't understand your disconnect between the licensing for the OSS projects in question and what you're saying, since I have yet to see Apple and others flagrantly ignore licensing terms. If this was such a big problem, change the license

Make it a way to meet new people, network, socialize, and get fit at the same time. But the question then is whether pacefit is worth paying for. Personally I've done exactly that at Curves without having to pay a "middleman" like pacefit

Maybe it's just me, but I don't find that huge variety of boring things to do at the local gym appeals to me. You know what it took for me to get off my ass and actually exercise a little? Wii Fit.
