Uh Perl 5 is in ACTIVE development and has gotten new features. Everything you said about Perl 5 is wrong. Perl 7 (skipping Perl 6 obviously) is on the table and being talked about and Perl 5.34.0 is going to be released in a couple months

You just described just about every OS that isn't Microsoft of Apple. Good luck with that attitude.

The core developers are very thoughtful bunch on what gets into Tcl as well. It's nice to watch the back and forth traffic.

The good thing is that it is under a grant to get the work done. Should be interesting to watch it get fleshed out.

Agreed. Now both projects can more forward for whatever someone's definition of forward means. I am just glad it happened.

Maybe grammars? You'd have to research. https://docs.raku.org/language/grammars

It wouldn't surprise me if Signal was working on something like this already.

They would have to apply that metric to ALL communication apps. I don't think it would fly.

I absolutely hate the way Go does packages. I've heard they've improved it, so maybe I need to take another look.

Whitespace is just something to get used to I think. It's a higher barrier for some people though, I agree.

No, not even close. It is 100% ethical to sell software but not the source to it. It isn't a social obligation of any kind to do so. You may choose to do so but you can't force that choice on others.

It sounds like their move to GitLab is really helping development. I hope that trends continues for them. Xfce is a great DE.

There is NO reason BASH "needed" to go GPLv3.

He didn't say it never has bugs. It does have a great track record and Dr. Hipp fixes things quickly when found.
