Not to mention, there's a lot of things that you can mount inside a bubblewrap sandbox that will lead to a trivial sandbox escape. The X11 socket, the DBus socket...

This is wrong, both ZFS and btrfs verify the checksum on every read. It's not typically a performance concern because computing checksums is fast on modern hardware. Besides, historically IO was much slower than CPU.

Stallman has a note about it from about 2017 along with a note that one of the criteria was being a Tor user at some point: https://web.archive.org/web/20170224183228/https://stallman....

I'd expect the `copy_to_user` call to be inside `dev_read`, so that the userspace program can read the result with a further `read()` call, instead of mutating the buffer it gave to `write()` being mutated (that would probably not even

The entire reason they are mostly focusing on getting DDoS protection services to drop KF, is it's seen as the most promising approach to kick the website offline. Most other things you need to be on the Internet are either already uti

I was not taking an issue with the calculation of the 4% chance, but rather with this phrase: "But with millions of people infected, this ratio of S/NS variations would still happen at a pretty high absolute number." I though

If it was the case that the absolute number mattered, we would be able to sample different "Omicron-like" variants and observe various ratios such as 33N/10S, 33N/15S, etc. mutations. But according to the data presented,

It's certainly not a one-size-fits-all kind of model, and there are indeed a lot of cases where being really good at one thing makes the difference. What I'm suggesting is not that you should simultaneously learn to program, do ac

It's better to be decent in a lot of areas than to be great in one area and terrible in another. If A, B, C, D is how much value you provide in different areas, you should try to maximize ln(A)+ln(B)+ln(C)+ln(D) rather than A+B+C+D. Al

To me, it rather feels like the opposite, like the "wanting to get better" explanation is a moralistic, post-hoc rationalization. I live a reasonably successful life, but many of the things that made it so are just luck. I was bor

I don't think the parent was proposing reinventing the wheel, Python has straightforward process parallelism support in the 'multiprocessing' library and for Python that's generally a better idea than GNU Parallel, IMO.

Perhaps if you want a perfect solution, but in practice most people aren't cheaters, and those that cheat tend to eventually make a mistake and get caught by the anti-cheat. The remaining 1337 you can manage manually.

I’m not too knowledgeable about SELinux, but Podman itself can create unsafe (privileged, etc.) containers, so I don’t think naively restricting user namespaces to Podman is going to help, exploits could just create the namespaces through P
