I don't think it works with Tailscale even though the tailscale0 interfaces say MULTICAST.

My comment was not about the original article. It was directed at the comment above me which stated "There are two ends ...".

How does one confirm how many “ends” are there in a conversation? If WhatsApp secretly set themselves (or another third party) up as an “end” in every conversation , that would also not break break E2EE.

You might have better results if you use different traceroute options (e.g. --tcp on Linux, which uses TCP SYN for probes) or other traceroute-like programs (e.g. lft, paris-traceroute, mtr)

Shouldn't there be some way to match up an ICMP packet received to a particular probe(s) e.g. by UDP port or something else?

Quoting the manual section number is common practice in the OpenBSD project and community. It is used quite heavily in the documentation and on the mailing lists.

Agreed. I have a couple of things to make my life slightly easier. I could never understand what kind of twilight zone stashes go into or remember which stash is which when I had too many of them. So I never use stashes any more, I just m

Maybe. But golang is probably okay for the kinds of things people run on a Raspberry Pi. There is also TinyGo for microcontrollers. https://tinygo.org

I didn't say split-horizon DNS is needed for getting LE certs. Just that a real domain name is a requirement to obtain LE certs in the first place. How will an A/AAAA query from something like https://my-rpi.my-real-do

A real domain name is the way to go. The convenience of using LE wildcard certificates is huge. However, running split-horizon DNS is not straightforward, at least in a home setting. I don't see a huge problem with putting a couple o

It is not about compromising DNS servers at coffee shops. If I go to a coffee shop, do any packets even have to go to coffeeshopwifi.com or example.com at all? 1. DHCP happens. 2. I type http://example.com , but I get 'Pleas

There are other possibilities for numbering bits. I have seen PowerPC documentation where 32-bit registers have bits numbered from 32 to 63, with 32 being the most significant.

I'm not sure how example.com is better than any other domain in a coffee shop setting. Any DNS lookup can be made to resolve to any arbitrary IP address, so it would not matter if a domain is lapsed or even real.
