“Source-to-source” is redundant. You can just shorten this to “compiler”.

It has been (mis)used in a very tiny amount of academic literature. It obviously did not catch on for what one might only hope were good reasons. There is no good reason to promote this now.

No, it wasn’t. “Transpile” is not a real word. There is no need to desecrate the first ever C++ compiler.

You are confusing service with software. All major operating systems have built-in VPN support. Check the network settings on your phone or computer. There will be a section for VPN settings.

Why are there a million VPN apps and protocols with pointless variations? Why isn’t the VPN software included in my operating system enough? e.g. Settings/General/VPN on iOS. macOS and Windows have something similar. EDIT: This

There is nothing particularly special about "-", but a lot of programs do use it for standard input like you said. e.g. awk, cat, diff. My macOS system has a quite a few of these grep -e '-.*standard input' /u

Yes, the include guard is a very widespread technique for header files. My objection is against #include’ing a .c file to support the questionable trend of ‘single file libs’.

Is there a prominent C code base that does this sort of thing? I’m sorry this is all very questionable advice IMHO. What would be one word in a makefile (onefilelib.c) is a 4-line jumble of preprocessor macros, names starting with __ are

You will probably find an x86_64 port of xv6 on GitHub. IMHO, there is nothing terribly special about x86_64. The goal of xv6 is not to teach 64-bit computers, but to cover operating system basics (primarily multitasking, virtual memory an

What is the missing Linux infrastructure? The distributions provide no LibreSSL packages and therefore there are no applications able to use libtls? Or is there more to it?

If I have read through the closed PRs, then obviously I have looked at the open PRs too: Makefile trivialities, homework solutions, and duplicates. Not a whole lot there.
