I think the op is saying that the instruction call <stub_function> gets rewritten by the instruction call <resolved_function> .

I don't know much about x86, but on other cpus/architectures (PowerPC, MIPS, and possibly others) one might still need to fiddle with the instruction cache.

If finer-grained cache control is needed, then it is no big deal to invoke the appropriate compiler intrinsics (if available) or write your own with inline assembly. My preference is to put these sorts of things in a separate .S file.

On a new Mac, just type cc and it will install the command line developer tools, which includes clang.

A quick search in bugs.python.org shows several crashes. I don’t know much about Python. Is there anything particularly special about this one?

I wouldn’t put it past the TV makers to aggressively evade firewalls, latch on to public WiFi or include a secret cellular modem that they bury in the finest of fine print.

Staging (and committing?) parts of a hunk is cool and I have done this many times myself. However, I am always uncomfortable with it because I am unsure how to incorporate it within the overall workflow. I'd like each commit of mine

No need to guess. In most of these online IDEs you can probably explore and easily see for yourself. e.g. repl.it -> Emacs lisp -> M-x shell -> ps ax shows docker-init

I can't find the LKML thread, but there is some fundamental problem with unloading modules safely. BPF programs might not have such limitations.
