I wonder if they could use some of it to make an experimental post-publication review system. I'm not sure what the future of peer review is, but I doubt it would hurt for them to try.

Or they could, you know, spend some of their billions on employing humans to review these cases.

So you want people to bid for their own homes? Glad you're not dictator mate

Given the friction (inconvenience) in having to move house/business etc, that hardly seems fair. It also defeats the object of land ownership if you can be kicked off it at any time.

Does anyone else find that self editing a linear memory evokes images of the theoretical Turing machine with its infinite tape?

This mostly sounds good but I wonder if you'd make it better by dropping the strict postgres requirements. I've never used postgres. I've worked with umpteen technologies over the years, including lots of gis, just never need

Thanks. You got me thinking back to when I started programming. Realised it wasn't until 9 or so. There's no rush is there.

The article seems to discuss manipulation (a valid concern) but the research focuses on duplication. I'm not entirely clear what the link between the two is?

These issues are key. Thanks for raising them. In some recent transport modelling work we decided there wasn't yet enough evidence about wfh, specifically because people may move further from the office. If this study fills some gaps,

All this doom and gloom, I say let's go for it though, most of us would benefit from a few extra hours in the day right? We can switch off the tidal power once it gets to 26 hours or so ;-)

Iirc if you get close enough to a black hole for time dilation to be substantial, then things are going to be pretty inhospitable in other ways. We couldn't survive the gravitational field gradient, for example. Strong imagination requ

This. Ideally we'd have jitted python loops be efficient. I love array syntax for simple examples but for more complex ops a loop is often clearer.

Fair. My appropriate point of comparison (if I wasn't currently nitrogen drunk) should in fact have been mountains <1000m. Which I also love, but they don't have that clear headed altitude feeling.

Anecdotally, as a mountaineer, I love the effect of a little less atmospheric pressure. Not loads less, above 3000m it starts getting inconvenient. But 1000-2000m my mind feels more clear and focused than at sea level. I wonder if this is r
