Yeah, arbitrariness in enforcement defines totalitarianism, I think.

The problem is I can't think of any. Windows, Linux and Mac OS X all support installation from a USB stick.

I use it for short sessions on mobile, when I know I'll spend less time than it takes Fennec to load.

Indeed. The advice is outdated and basically wrong. Flagged.

Flipping around the hands used for directions and actions is standard with emulator keyboard input, actually.

What is the value in aping a particular OS's look for your UI when chances are most of your users won't even be using that OS? You know what other sites attempt to copy an OS's native controls? The ones displaying fake virus scans.

Power users go with the "Combine when taskbar is full" option. What sample size do you have here?

I'm not sure what definition of multiuser you're using, but all the Windows NT-based OSes meet the normal definition of multiuser.

For what its worth, in the one class I've had where the professor did catch a fifth of the students cheating in the first midterm (and immediately handed everyone Fs), his mood towards the rest of the class changed similarly.

You're a dick for buying products that actively negatively affect other users and that would lead to chaos if everyone bought them, yes.

I agree with Kant here: when deciding whether an action is right, one should consider what would happen if everyone started doing it. Also, you're a dick. Congratulations.

And yet it is exactly as dickish and disrespectful of others. Just like Apple as a whole, it seems.

If you think Google has access to your raw, plaintext credentials logged somewhere on their servers I don't think that. Read my comment again, paying special attention to the phrase "in any form".

The data being synced is completely encrypted end-to-end, and you can provide a personal passphrase aside from your Google credentials as an added level of security if you'd like. I'm having trouble parsing this comment -- part of any "en

People don't care about privacy. I find this kind of thought process philosophically unsound. People might not care about privacy enough today -- that doesn't mean that software developers should follow them off the cliff. At some level

And have fun telling Google all about where you get your porn. Chrome's sync is not a reasonable option for anyone who cares about his privacy enough (which should be everybody on Hacker News). you need to use an (unretrievable) sync key t

That just means your Firefox isn't benefiting from GPU acceleration. It could either be because your OS or hardware doesn't support it or because your graphics drivers are out of date.

browser.urlbar.trimURLs I don't like the change either. It's one of the many reasons Chrome's UI is terrible. Opera actually implements it pretty well through, since when you click in the location bar the part to the left gets replaced with
