Thanks for the kind words! Yes, we are actually working on exposing our high-level roadmap publicly. We are currently testing a public Trello board, but the choice of tool is not yet final. All of this is being discussed openly on the #dock

I'm really glad you brought this up! This topic is actually very relevant to what we're trying to do with Docker. Think of it this way: we (the creators of an open-source project) have built for our project an infrastructure capab

In addition to the funding, we have bet on a Linux-style development model where the project is not just open source but open design: ownership is federated across key individuals with strong ownership over particular subsystems, with very

What does a typical packer config file look like for building a docker container? I think of it as a useless abstraction on top of docker, but that's probably because I only generate containers and don't need the other packer targ

Hi, Docker author here. This is a perfect example of how we're trying to design Docker: by looking for the right balance between evolution and revolution. Evolution means it has to fit into your current way of working and thinking. Rev

Docker has a facility to build containers automatically from source. As long as you have access to the source and it has a Dockerfile, you can rebuild the container itself after making all the changes you want (including security fixes).

You hit the nail on the head. This approach of containers as a "static binary on steroids" is a major aspect of my motivation in docker's design. I hope this will become more obvious as we progress in the implementation.
