The author is looking for a container format capable of storing multiple image layers, and one that is capable of storing both vector and raster images. So you could possibly argue that XML (a la SVG) is the right format to represent the ve

I remember some time ago when chunk host first launched. They advertised that the service was "free during beta", when what they really meant was "free beta test" (more accurately: "free 30 day trial"). Since that blatant act of false adv

In general any public channel that reaches a critical mass eventually gets overwhelmed with noise/trolls/elitists. It really just takes a few bad eggs to ruin the experience for everybody. That's just the nature of things though, it's hard

oftc has a smaller python channel, and I think freenode has #python-friendly. Less activity, but generally means less noise and fewer trolls.

That would be helpful for rootkits coming from outsiders, but would only serve to slow down (not stop) an insider. An insider knows what protections are in place (probably implemented them too) and can defeat the hash check if she knew how

It gets even messier when you find out one day you have to handle failures, or serialize data to send to that endpoint, or get notified on network events, or cancel an ongoing request, or etc etc etc.

brian initially started work on the extension, then I did for a few months, now it's back on brian's plate. In my experience it was rough debugging anything within the webview after being used to the power of chrome dev tools and firebug.

Honestly I don't see this as a reaction to DigitalOcean. If you look at http://blog.linode.com/category/upgrades/ you can see that Linode has a history of passing on the value of faster/cheaper hardware over to their customers. It just

I think all in all I spent almost a month on DO, and I believe I left under 2 weeks ago. I have a friend that's still on DO (he likes the low price and needs the RAM to compile rust) and in his experience the network issues are still aroun

FWIW those product/company sponsored hackathons aren't all hackathons. StartupWeekend happens with some regularity in tons of cities across the US, and their schtick is "build-a-business-in-a-weekend". So you're free to come up with whate

To be fair, slides usually accompany a talk. If he stood there and just read off the slides verbatim, yeah, that'd be lacking in substance. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that his actual presentation went into more depth.

Is there a reason to include this directly in Django rather than leaving it as a pluggable app? Updates/bug-fixes/features are way easier to push when it's not tied into the official update cycle, letting you be a lot more agile.

Maybe because there are more vim users than sublime users on hn? FWIW i did see that story on front-page of hn and it's what prompted me to immediately write my vim-port. I finished it like a few days after that.
