Not to mention, his question was answered and he got what he wanted. He's just unhappy for getting downvoted and doesn't want to comply with what SO wants out of how questions are asked.

Yeah, franzus is certainly taking it a bit too personal. SO is interested in the preservation of knowledge for future visitors. I don't know why this isn't in your best interest, but it is certainly what SO focuses on and gets, to a good de

What about being able to at least preview the service without needing an account? We can do that already on the app version, before we decide to sign up with Pulse. Signing up is an extra step, and a little too much, for a product that I wa

I think this advice is more geared towards city environments than it is to suburban ones, which are plagued with cars everywhere!

Rather, I think huggyface is saying that slandering a product without facts/evidence is not very productive and is better to have off of HN. It would be nice if more people on HN back up their claims with facts and sources. Instead, people

Heck, the Arch community is great with regards to getting software (including the latest branches) up and running on a machine. Definitely a helpful community with admirable goals.

That sounds like the GitHub working model. Is GitHub and Mozilla, along with a lot of small startups, the only groups that practice it? It sounds so convenient for recruiting from a wider pool of talent.

The carb withdrawal is only for like, the first week, right? Then you'll be scot-free! Or so I thought.

It's along similar lines to copying someone else's rc file willy hilly, without understanding what you're getting. Extra layer of quirks and features that you need to figure out, on top of the already existing layer.

Yeah, I don't like it when people spout speed comparisons without backing it up either. A lot of people do want/need PCRE, which ack relieves the pain point for.

How did you hone your skills for years? Have you been working with other lock providers? Or other methods, or just the process of reverse-engineering the software that hardware interacts with? You are cool, you know that?

Well, if there was someway to mark links as "opinion" or "knowledge" related, I'd be happy.. But, that is certainly not the case. Like some sort of crowdsourced opinion/knowledge on each link. Like upvotes, but a little more meaningful/usef

This is sort of inspiring, but until I see more legitimate businesses making money off of a better model than advertising, it just doesn't mean much to say it. If people didn't have to pay for costs for things like bandwidth and marketing,

Sounds sort of like an elevator pitch, but more directed towards you than the startup. I guess that's what we expect, focusing on the people behind the startup instead of a mix of both. But where's your execution? Talking the talk is great,

Once I had more than about 4-5 years of experience . How did you get a job before you had the experience and the skillset? I think recruiters are not that effective (at least in programming), but it seems like a 'safe' and 'obvious' invest

That actually sounds kind of cool, but I can't imagine it fitting a big company. Maybe it works for ultra-small companies or individual teams. Where do ya work, might I ask?

The about-nix page is rather helpful on why you would want to use nix: http://hydra.nixos.org/build/2609700/download/1/manual/#id49... From my cursory glance over nix's advantages, it sort of looks like the vagrant deployment system, but

While we're on the subject of static analysis and valuable feedback, you should take a look at PVS-Studio, which is pretty neat as well, and is comparable to what clang can do (as far as I can tell from their blog posts).
