Even if big company is going to lose, that is nothing for them and they can play the game forever and drag the courts while you are trying everything to pay for court costs, even if you are almost sure you will get them back

it is called "new" and "delete" but yeah, there is more to that and I doubt C++ can be fully unsafe unless you set references and pointers (they can be invalidated) probably many other things as unsafe. c++ is unsafe by

Like every 6 months something impossible happens on my visual studio. For example the program enters an if it shouldnt. It evaulates to false but still enters. This happens because somehow it uses old cached intermediate files that are no l

Did the dev confirm if the version is correct or if this task is achievable at all? It could have been generated from a version that is not really released. All it takes is for dev to slightly change the map generation algorithm after gener

I always wondered if firefox would actually change default engine if google stops the cash. It would remove some chunk of users at least imo, can firefox really afford it?

I think comparison is a bit unfair since nms is (mostly) single player while fo76 is not. If nms gets good (i believe it is good btw, I play it regularly on VR) it would still sell 5 years later but fo76 would be dead if it can't keep

Hmm, now i thinked about this one but perhaps it is fair to compare unique_ptr to regular variables as well. I guess it is more complicated than i thought, but i think it is fair to compare them pointers too. Because most of the time you wi

Zero cost compared to a raw pointer. You are comparing apple and oranges if you compare it to a regular variable. It has a null check on destructor (and a delete of course), which is good enough for "zero cost" to me

That sounds valid, no reason for ratio to be <= 1. It usually is but not always I guess

Depending on context I would use ratio saturated (if something is clamped to 0-1) normalized (if it is scaled down using a max value)

Eh, well but it is. Since most (all?) UB could be eliminated if you added more code. I don't see any other reason for stuff like making access to uninitialized memory UB for example.

You can force portability and remove UB at the same time. For example the system is not two's complement? just wrap everything math operation with checks on those system and say that your language is two's compliment! Or just does

The reason for having UB in the first place is so compilers can exploit them so we can have more optimized programs. UB is a feature, not a bug. So you don't really "clean" it up. Cleaning up of UB means a lot of overhead for
