The 3G is almost compelling. However, lots of us already carry around a laptop with an expensive 3G account. I can only use one device at a time, and it's silly to me that I can't either tether to this with it's embedded 3G chip, or else u

I migrated from working pretty exclusively with Groovy/Grails to Scala/Lift over the course of a year or so, and have no regrets at all. One of the interesting things I found is that it's remarkably easy to port plain Groovy code to Scala w

ESME is an Apache incubator project that's based on Lift, and I believe was originally started by the Lift founder. Recent licensing drama aside it seems to have a pretty dedicated team of developers and good momentum. http://incubator.ap

SBT, the Simple Build Tool, is a pretty good step in the right direction for building Scala projects, and I imagine it would work pretty well for plain Java code too. It's been mentioned on the mailing list that Lift, for instance, will eve

It's pretty clear that both Annapolis and the bay bridge went to BW, but Chesapeake got the Bay Bridge-Tunnel which almost makes up for it. For all the trouble it would cause, I know quite a few people who wouldn't mind parting with old Bal

It may be different, but it seems like the last people you want to confront with differentiation are your existing users. I wonder if the best way to release such a radical redesign would be to only default new users to the new interface

I wouldn't mind reading about how you "got to work" after the launch and managed to build that traffic in about a month. Care to go into more detail, either here or on your blog?

I wouldn't even say that it confirms a problem with the design, just that it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have the thing labeled in the first place. If his sole reason for disliking this particular interface was that he couldn't remem

If I remember correctly from a visit out there a couple of months ago, they top out at around 12 people on a team (as the other reply mentioned, they're internally referred to as "2-pizza" teams).

Both Chargify and Spreedly require a payment gateway of some sort, no idea about the others. I believe Chargify only supports Authorize.net currently, and it looks like Spreedly supports a few more. Authorize.net is only the payment gateway

In my experience Sprint is consistently 85-95ms, which is just fast enough for smooth SSH - except when some link starts adding a few more tens of ms somewhere, in which case it gets pretty frustrating. I find that I can pretty happily SS

When I moved out to the farmland with no cable or DSL service I tried satellite. I found it next to useless due to the latency, incredibly slow uplink and spotty connectivity (it may just be HughesNet, but that thing was down for something

This is true, but it was not always the case. That copyrights last so long now is the result of change due to political pressure. Even as recently as 1998 copyright was only authors life plus 50 years, and less before that.
