Oh, if I wasn't clear, I meant using git as a form of work record at your company. If you have a nice commit log, it's easy to point to your own productivity. I didn't mean keep committing to open source repos.

People are scared you won't commit code and will do nothing. A long public commit history on GitHub is good and seems to do a lot. Also, once you have the job, keep the git active too. The good commit logs help you write invoices mo

This doesn't matter. The HFT arbitrage guys (if they haven't already) will move in to bring the other components of the fragmented market inline. This is just a natural progression with markets becoming more efficient.

Does this allow iOS and Android to talk to each other over the mesh without reaching into the cloud? It says iOS and Android, but it doesn't seem to say -between- iOS and Android.

This was an interesting challenge. Here's my attempt: "Merry Christmas." The more PC term is "Happy Holidays", but I'm not so sure "Merry Christmas" is offensive contextually -- at least, not always.

I've often felt web sites need an inverse mode. On some sites, I prefer all the negative comments to the upvoted comments.

Depends on if there is a kind of liquidity crunch. People could be called on to sell BTC to offset problems that arise out of an issue with other markets.

We are similar and I studied math as well. I solved this problem by just buying a friend coffee regularly in exchange for notes. She used to take fantastic notes and they were probably the reason I even excelled in a lot of classes. Howev

I like ZeroC's ICE and I use it as a form of component interconnect where appropriate. The pain level is minimal (although I disliked some elements of how they distributed their packages over the years.) Source builds have been probl

Your knowledge is disorganized because the state of affairs is disorganized. People have strong opinions on methods that define how front end and back end operate, so no one resource will exhaustively enumerate how the other n-1 methods ar

HFT has matured. But, I agree, finding alpha through alternative means at internet scale has been around for at least a decade, but things are getting more interesting now.

100% correct. I am a statistician and a developer and my work falls into the domain of machine learning. The vast majority of my job is really painful data gathering, scrubbing, and fighting the toolchain. I have done this for YEARS, and

You can learn C++ if you want, but don't get frustrated if you don't understand everything. Baby steps. You will be refining your knowledge for years.

Trading always has this trade off in terms of (dumb and fast) vs (smart and slow). In the past few years, I think it's been more beneficial to be fast enough, but very smart. So, in this sense, technical ability only takes you so far
