This would be nice but how is this going to be payed for? Research budgets are already being squeezed pretty tight given how much the sponsoring organization takes(universities ...), research costs, and congressional attempts to cut funding

I absolutely agree. If it doesn't fulfill some need then it doesn't get used. If it doesn't get used I never practice it or get better and thus forget it. This is why everytime I have a problem best solved by python I have to relearn it. Wi

That is exactly the reason I rarely use my phone for browsing. The internet is just too expensive.

This video exhibits such a poor understanding of math, physics, chemistry, and biology that it should not be promoted or even taken as anything but pure drivel. Ignorance masquerading as expertness is not acceptable. All this is is an atte

Politicians thrive on control and power. All of this is a way of controlling people.

I don't want to sound like a negative nancy, but anyone who as been paying attention since the early 2000's (probably before but that was when I started paying attention) is well aware of this. Historically this shouldn't be surprising aswe

YC isn't a start up news service. From their posting guidelines you should post "Anything that good hackers would find interesting. That includes more than hacking and startups. If you had to reduce it to a sentence, the answer might be: an

If it is such a big problem then I would imagine they could always implement in house training programs. Pay workers who have a relevant background to pick up the work quickly lower pay until they complete training. This is how it used to b

I completely agree with this article. The new layout is absolutely not useful. There isn't even an easyway to get to the new videos put out by other people. It works OK for managing my subscriptions but finding new content and people just d

I can't say for sure but I suspect the problem in the US stems from a number of factors not at all related to gun laws. Just a short list (for overall gun violence): 1) The way our prison system works. It makes people worse. It makes them b

It seems to me a way to mitigate this risk of part of the screen not working is to randomize the order with which the candidates are displayed. The error would presumably average itself out. Either way this is unacceptable.

I fail to see how using facebook to reconnect with disconnected friends is what is wrong with facebook. As a tool that is exactly what it is for.

You don't even need to write a facebook app. I have put together scripts in R and Matlab with those capabilities. Its absurdly simple to do using Facebook API and a JSON parser.

I agree. The amount of response bias in this survey will tend to be absurd. I suspect most people who use facebook and/or twitter won't bother with answering this. There is no good reason to. I also suspect that people who don't use faceboo

He probably was spot on with several things. I read a good bit of the rest. I have the galaxy note phone. The first time I saw the ad for this tablet all I could think of was how awesome it was. It is good to see negative opinions sometimes

I honestly stopped reading when I read "Terrible even by Samsung's low standards." I don't feel like the author was being objective and was looking for anything wrong. Fanboys are inherently unobjective

I have a graduate physics degree and I am working on a second one. As far as I can tell so far you will be quite competitive with CS graduates, though you may have to start off at a lower position than some. The other thing is you will have
