Wow. Busted on wire fraud and money laundering. This is the first I’ve heard of an arrest for this kind of scam. I always assumed it was too small time for law enforcement to bother with.

I’ve been wondering the same thing about the iPad Mini. My mom and mother-in-law both have the same vintage (v1, I think) and both complain of browser crashes when loading some web sites and playing video on Facebook. My guess is it’s a com

It depends a lot on the project and your immediate team situation. As an example of what’s possible, look what happens over pull requests, email, and chat in open source projects. Shared goals, shared communication mechanisms -> stuff ge

I revisited these databases recently while researching if any serverless redis options are available. BDB is under Oracle. Some people may not want to navigate the white papers and pricing questions to get to the database. TokyoCabinet appe

Calc is so useful to have right there. I have never used Windows calc since discovering the emacs one many years ago. Once I got used to it I had to find an RPN one for my phone (RealCalc and PCalc for Android and IOS, respectively). Algebr

I'm told national labs won't touch Lenovo PCs since superfish (despite the fact that from what I can tell business models were not affected). Is HP next?

I first heard of Frank Abagnale when adjunct professor Edward Amoroso told my information security class at Stevens that Catch Me If You Can was the best book he ever read. A few weeks later he jokingly berated the class when a quick poll s

That’s what I was thinking. It’s also great PR for the FBI to demonstrate competence and an optimistic outlook in a time when DOJ is taking hits from the executive branch and the rank and file get no public defense from the AG.

It’s all about putting fraud liability completely on the bank and not on yourself for the duration of an investigation. And building credit.

That percentage has been and will be debated forever, even by proponents of the Browne PP model, but 4x25 has done well as recently as the past two decades. Also the exact number is not all that critical. Earlier versions of Browne’s portfo

Times were different when Browne was practicing and refining his system. His book Fail-safe Investing talks about using Swiss banks and holding gold there. My understanding is today the Swiss don't want to deal with the headaches that

Does anyone ever want to annotate threads or messages with notes like next actions or why you didn’t reply? I always thought it should be built into gmail, but I suppose an add-on would work.

Yes. At the other end of Indiana there are small towns continuing to do well due to the RV industry (which only seems to grow). At least in the town I'm from the DG is always busy. OTOH in Indianapolis we also have dollar stores but no

Opening brace on a new line is the default, but VS has excellent granular settings in this area. I was tired of having different standards for C and C#, so at one point we switched our defaults and ran a utility to convert all our C# code.
