Does it still lack maintainers today? Kind of surprising if no one picked it up when it's so actively used by major projects (like neovim and others). It blocks using more recent Lua for them.

What is the reason that LuaJIT was never updated past Lua 5.1?

I see, but I still don't get why any of that had to be stripped, aren't they using public APIs? Nothing there has to be in any particularly way secret.

> the LLVM back-end was supposed to replace it anyway. Is this still the case? I.e. why shut down the open amdvlk project then? They could just make it focused on Windows only.

Very cool successor of Norton Commander idea.

What will AMD do with Windows Vulkan driver, didn't they use amdvlk there? There was some radv on Windows experiment, it would be cool if AMD would use that.

I think ambiguity is somewhat intended. It also is continued in the rest of the trilogy. Some things are clearly left for the reader to guess or to interpret. It does make it a not very easy read.

I don't get this idea. Transformative works don't automatically equal fair use - copyright covers all kind of transformative works.

I can't really read anything with that, so somewhat readable is very moot.

It makes sense for something like accessibility to be part of the protocol because it almost always needs access to stuff that Wayland restricts by design.

Yeah, that's exactly the point. These kind of algorithms are far from easy to invent even if they look simple once they are known.

More exactly, you can't invent algorithms on a spot which took who knows how many years for others to invent. I.e. the question ends up being more if you know about a specific algorithm, which results in "invent it if you don'

Sure, but imagine real world where ActiveX is a thing and arguments like above are presented. South Korea had fun dealing with this nonsense. Direction of the idea you are advocating for is completely wrong.

No, they were absolutely wrong. It's like saying it was wrong for the Web to have common standards and everyone should be using ActiveX, Flash, Silverlight and who knows what else. That argument is complete fallacy. It's really go

You can read about DX12 being worse here: https://themaister.net/blog/2021/11/ But that's not even the point. Everyone could collaborate on the common API and make it better. Where were Apple and MS? Cha

Office space / real estate owners don't care. It's their plot to increase profits and companies are colluded with them on it. There is no other obvious reason besides may be Big Brother monitoring mentality.

Cyberpunk 2077 is very GPU bound, so it's not really about CPU there. I'm playing it using 7900 XTX on Linux :) But yeah, defaults are set to look better in benchmarks and they are not worth it. Eco mode should be the default.

AMD do handle power consumption well, at least if you run in eco mode instead of pushing CPU to the limits. I always set eco mode on on modern Ryzens.

They are pretty much about IR when it comes to language interchange. SPIR-V is explicitly an IR that can be targeted from a lot of different languages.
