Use a real mail client. The web is terrible for non-CRUD work.

Can the generated licenses be used without signing up for binpress?

The license generator is a fantastic resource! And so far as I can tell one can use it however they like (they need not sign up with binpress to use them). I'd much prefer to offer software under the GPL, but also offer a proprietary lice

Is programming really so much better off for having so many more languages and means of describing algorithms? At least the language of math that one writes today can be expected to be understandable and readable a hundred or more years fr

I never use a Facebook or third-party login, if I can help it. Why would I want to tie my real identity to some site I'm opting to _try_ for the first time? I might want to integrate an account to Facebook if the service provided some pheno

Books are by default sequential, but they also offer a lot of different means of indexing to get what you want: the table of contents, the index, or just flipping through. And if you have no idea where you start, you know where to begin: a

This is the story we'd like to believe but it's not true. The 9/11 hijackers were educated as engineers, living well in Europe not in destitute poverty. The solution isn't more money and more education, the 9/11 hijackers had that in spades

There's a lot to recommend for backtracking. Newton backtracked multiple times to understand the math from an astrology book he picked up. Also, if you're inexperienced, how are you to tell who the Master's are? I fear that whatever book

When he writes that Newton too just read and re-read through the Master's, he's wrong. "How Newton was introduced to the most advanced mathematical texts of his day is slightly less clear. According to de Moivre, Newton's interest in mathem

Hi, I've updated the page to include my plan. Yes, this is about laying the foundation for Emacsy. However, I expect to deliver on all the features I laid out such that they are usable and documented. There are a number of other features

Fair enough. My plan is to work out in the open on github, part-time this Summer. I'll report noteworthy builds and solicit feedback. I believe that by the deadline I can produce a usable and documented Emacsy library that includes all t

I hear you. Yeah, the problem with changing or updating Emacs is it's been too successful. No one can change its constitution without breaking everything that makes it great. The leg that I'm trying to stand on is, Emacsy isn't a text edi

This is a fine way to work. I, for one, love SLIME. However, the main goal of Emacsy is not to load code at runtime; it's to be able to modify the UI of your application at runtime while providing some Emacs-like facilities. Certainly, th

It is a figurative use of "extracts" rather than literal. No Emacs code is used in Emacsy.
