From what I understood Google used WTL as an abstraction layer for the GUI. Meaning in order to create a button they used the WTL CButton (which is a wrapper for a Windows button control). So to create a Mac control button they'll add a pre

I played with both. Android looks like a serious threat. The big question is how will google treat the Android developers. Phone vendors don't like developers massing around with their devices, users do like it. The vendor that will reach t

iPhone 3G and now this Apple are under pressure, these are not minor bugs, these are major issues I guess they are pushing their products way before they are ready for a global release.

I fear I wasn't clear. The main problem of the .NET is its distribution. I had to write million lines of C++ win32 code, because no one wants to distribute a 22MB .NET installer. As goes to ASP.NET that only works with IIS. F# could be a gr

I can't see the point. VB.NET was created to get the VB6 developers move to the .NET C# was created to get C++ and Java developers. Another language won't get more developers using ,NET, Microsoft if you want more developers using the .NET

Why are we using landlines, and not cellular? Wherever there is infrastructure and someone making money out of it, new technologies will be slow to adopt. VoIP is much better and cheaper, unfortunately its going to take awhile before we can

In one of my previous jobs we had this dude who had like 20+ books on his desk. At best the guy was an average developer... There is a difference between a read and a reference.

What I don't like about Apple is the we can't do no evil approach (like Google). They are after my buck as the rest of them. I'm sure that if MS would have decided to boot Windows from a specific set of hardware Vista would have been a winn

I'll take it further. What google are trying to do is to impose standardisation. Now days web developers need to test a web site on IE and firefox. What google are doing is testing it only on Chrome and forcing IE and FF to yield and render

Writing C++ I've found myself all the time implementing C# classes. When doing Win32 development C++ looks like a waste of time. If I want something to run on Windows only I can produce the same result with both languages. If I want to cre

The Android SDK is in its early stages and suffers from some bugs which is expectable. It's a good set of Java namespaces that provides a good control over the device resources. As it Java the environment is managed which makes the applicat

Apple are in uncharted territory. Providing an SDK to the iPhone is equivalent as allowing different sets of hardware running OSX. It would be interesting to see how long will it take Apple to bring the goods (if ever...)
