This mistake started when Steve Jobs returned to Apple. And now they have $80 billion dollars in the bank.

As an indie dev, I'm way more worried by this development: http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/personal/2012/12/05/new-a... If everyone moves to this subscription model, the indies won't even be invited to the party.

Maybe someone here can patent the act of making trivial, over-reaching patents and put a stop to all this?

Somewhat related to this is how staggeringly awful the Google Play search is. My app is called "My PlayHome" (the wisdom of that branding decision is another matter). Let's see what happens if a potential buyer (quite reasonably), adds an e

I was looking out for the Teal/Orange effect and was interested to see that it started in posters way back in the 80s already, 20 years before digital film color grading.

To save you the trouble, it's a stream of content free fanboyism and witless photoshoppery. Every single comment would be downvoted to oblivion if it were posted here.

The other big problem is that Apple provide zero analytics. I have no idea how people find my app. Apple don't tell you what searches people used so it's impossible to optimize or effectively test keywords. Plus you can only change your ke

Have you done any usability testing with little kids? I'm intrigued to know if they'll be able to instinctively navigate through the options. Also, isn't using the hardware back button is going to end up with countless accidental app exits?

The most I've sold on Google Play was 8 in one day. This was sufficient to make it rank around 200 in the Entertainment category.

Not exactly. The conclusion was based on the fact that selling 50 copies in 1 day meant it ranked 120 in all paid apps on the Amazon store.

I am increasingly surprised that anyone bothers to make Android apps. I have a successful kids app on iOS that I recently ported to Android. The Android version made 5% of what the iOS version made last month. If rankings are anything to go

No. I'm saying the Games/Educational category is very small and takes very few sales to be in the top 100 and almost nothing to be in the top 400. What I'm really saying (in my other comment) is that this was a wholly unremarkable app wit

A lot of nonsense here. They claim to have been "featured by Apple". This was most probably just in the "What's Hot" section buried under 5 levels of clicks on the iTunes desktop app. The rankings they claim are actually pitifully small. Se

Ha. That basically means they are selling nothing. You can get into the top 100 iPhone Games/Educational section with about 20 downloads in a day. But these are their peak figures. Their boast about being in the top 400 for 2/3 of the time

I don't see how this was even a dilemma to Microsoft. The market for what is essentially a digital scrap book could have in no way justified it. Seriously, what percentage of the population would actually benefit from this functionality? Co
