Always annoys me when people attempt to frame their personal preferences as a codified rule rather than a recommendation. All the examples seem fine with some being marginally better than others.

Mitch McConnell has been serving in the senate since 1985. He's been a senator longer than most Americans have been alive. I think the outliers are far more consequential than the averages in this case.

Removing it would make Congress less powerful, and we can't have that now can we.

Maybe you could make a target unit file like “jobs.target” and in your timer unit files do “WantedBy=jobs.target”. Then you could do “systemctl start/stop jobs.target”

I feel like pretty much every language with generics has a LINQ, like functools/itertools in Python, lodash for javascript. It’s just a different expression of the same ideas.

Crossing your fingers and hoping for a sci-fi technology solution to be invented for climate change seems far more realistic at this point than expecting Taylor Swift to not dump 10 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere because she wanted to have

Really makes you wonder where this is all going. What is going to be the thing where we say "Maybe we took this a little too far." I'm sure whatever bloated react apps we see today are nothing in comparison to the monstrositi

Having a corporate monopoly controlling the web is a pretty steep price to pay for flexbox.

If you don't want people to fork your code, don't explicitly give them permission to fork your code. Its like if you put your couch on the curb with a sign on it saying "FREE COUCH" and then coming home and freaking out

Demeaning and applying labels to people who disagree with you are not really conducive to the healthy arguments the author is looking for.

I feel like you'd be better off just writing a couple tests for your authorization logic instead.

I'm not an expert in networking but every time I've had to deal with dual stack it feels like IPv6 introduced a bunch of problems.

I just don't think IPv6 addresses are human readable compared to IPv4 addresses. I know DNS makes that a non issue for the majority of users but I still think it's an important quality for people in charge of maintaining networks

Well yeah it would obviously constitute a new protocol and hardware/software would need to be upgraded, but beyond that everything that worked in IPv4 would continue to work in this theoretical protocol.

Why couldn't we have just added another byte to IPv4 addresses and called it a day? Hell add two bytes.

Just look at how much shorter and nicer the docker example is compared to the VM example. Also first example runs locally on any computer with docker or podman or whatever installed, second example exclusively runs on AWS.
