It is not near impossible to get Japanese citizenship, but you are technically required to renounce other current citizenships. Permanent residency is a more attainable goal especially for technical workers in Japan.

I'm not sure about that either, I have 32 commits: ➜ go hg log --user "Shawn Smith" | grep user | wc -l 32 Edit: I'm there now. Not sure what fixed it, starring the repo or adding my email address to GitHub.

Interesting, I'll star the project and see what happens. I see other people's contributions showing up that are over 1 year old so I'm not sure if that is why.

Did anyone do anything special to get their contributions attributed to their GitHub account? Mine are not showing up here: https://github.com/golang/go/graphs/contributors

I agree with this. I moved from SF to Tokyo 2 years ago, and for almost the exact same price as my studio apartment in downtown SF, which was tiny and the bathroom was covered in mold, I have an apartment about 15-20 mins out of Shinjuku in

Come visit Tokyo. Most of the people I know do not own a car. The train is the most popular form of commute. I either walk to my destination, or walk to the nearest train station to get there. It certainly does not have the same garbage sys

Ah, I think I get it. When searching for the term "shin" for example, it would ignore any English definition matches such as shin guard, and only match Japanese terms containing it, like 心配.

I understand what you mean; I've been studying Japanese for five years now and learned hiragana and katakana in the first two weeks of class. I have always told new learners to do that first as you rarely see romaji used in Japan. Do

Thanks for pointing this out. I've been working on a text extractor in Go at work and tried for a long time to get UnRTF working with RTF files containing Japanese characters to no avail. This lib lists catdoc as the extractor they use

I once talked to someone from GitHub who said that the way he sells people on TDD is to show them the tests running automatically when they save a file. I thought this was a pretty neat idea, and have used it on a couple of projects. If you

Do you mean the author is reinventing the wheel because this already exists in other programming languages, or because there are many existing GUI libraries like this in Go already? It's likely there are many people who are most comfor
