>The code from the book is exceedingly non-idiomatic lisp. (defconstant true t) *twitch* You weren't kidding. I'd be tempted to rewrite it if I thought anyone would use it.

Featherstonehaugh pronounced Fanshaw is apparently something made up by P.G. Wodehouse for one of his characters. It's just Featherston-haw for everyone in reality.

The first Android phone had a physical keyboard and a little trackball. The rest of the phone was a bit anemic even by the standards of the time but those two features were glorious.

Pragmatically, it's for the best to use its preferred name instead of legal name when sucking up to the department and Trump to try to get back in good graces.

Easy way is to use `tput` to generate the color codes for your terminal type on the fly. See https://stackoverflow.com/questions/54838578/color-codes-for... for examples.

Speaking of design, I absolutely cannot stand the font used in TFA. Especially the lower case f. It's actually painful to look at.

There's a few lispy languages that support using square brackets as an alternative to parens. Racket even has curly braces too. The above really reminds me of tcl, though, which uses square brackets to force evaluation of the command t

You can just use lindex $mydata 35 2 for indexing nested lists, btw. Same for nested hash tables: dict get $mydata channel 2 Mixing the two does get ugly with nested functions, granted.

I like tcl as an alternative to shell for any non-trivial scripts. And its coroutines + built in event loop makes for really nice seamless async style programming.

Smaller trucks don't have the suspension etc. for mounting a snow plow, or heavy towing. Those are applications where a bigger heavy duty truck make sense.

Unironically, tcl is great as an upgrade from shell.

Bit rot alert: Linux doesn't even have mandatory file locks these days. Linux-specific open file description locks could be brought up in a modern version of TFA though.
