it solves scale issues that git can't solve at the moment. fb monorepos are huge. so for most people/companies this issue is not critical to solve and git is great.

you got to click something like any link. opening the site doesn't allow it by itself to hijack the back as browsers do not allow that without user gesture.

i would assume its mostly anti scraping protection which is mostly for privacy. you don't want to allow everyone scrap your website, pull and use your info. for example from fb, ig, LinkedIn, github, .... you can build a really big pro
