LA county is massive. SF is tiny. The rest of the bay offers much more than LA. You just need to look around. I doubt I can move back again. I tried once and the food was just terrible in contrast.

Huh? The bay is the most racist place I’ve ever lived. For a supposedly “diverse” region everyone seems to self-segregate (compared to SoCal, for example). As for FAANG and what not, the hate is understandable. It’s like building McMansions

In the end it’s really supply/demand. Perhaps there need to be quotas on how much population can be in the city at any given time. Added benefit would be less traffic, congestion, and waiting in lines for anything

All the shady landlords I experienced in my life (that stole my deposit, I had to sue…and still refused) were from the bay area. I’m glad I own now but it’s really hard to sympathize when so many have been crooks.

Same. It’s too bad sonic expansion can’t happen faster. Wish they had detailed maps of which neighborhoods have it already.

Probably the same reason people want extra free speech? If available and technically feasible, then why not ensure it as much as possible.

Why does there have to be a practical application? Bandwidth is like speech. Once you’ve provided the basic framework you should have the right to as much or as little as wanted. We don’t limit speech of some people that don’t talk as much

Why would capitalist enterprises want to derail others? It is unfathomable

It SHOULD require richer less frequent communication (in fact, ALL work communication should probably be done that way). In practice, it is the complete opposite with context switching on steroids brought to you by Slack channels.

That just shows that the vast amount of developers are morons that have an inability to empathize. Doubly so at larger companies.

I wish there was a command to just generate one of these files instead of always having to look it up, copy/paste, and then fill it all in. It's the simple things that reduce friction that matter. Devs never understand this.

I have a Unicomp that stopped working even though it was never abused. I’ve had crappy Logitechs and no-names that lasted longer. Kinda disappointing considering how well built it is. Unfortunately I can’t recommend that trash. Have a look

To be fair, it seems a great number of folks use K8s because they can and/or because Google. And if that criteria is good enough to justify its use then surely it's enough to justify the use of an alternative. Frankly, the major

If you are concerned with the core concepts of computing with Von Neumann-esque machines then SICP will certainly cover it. Will it make you better at your job? No. The only thing I walked away with after SICP in undergrad many years ago is

Anyone that has ever interacted with a customer service chat bot knows this is pretty stupid. I’m not sure why people (esp. those in the tech community) think we have evolved the technology in any meaningful enough way to replace people yet

I've never had an experience with AirBnB that was anywhere as seamless and a decent hotel. Why do people fall for Silicon Valley polished turds? Does feces really smell better when VC funding is involved?
