I don't use "startup" generically to mean any small/new company that hopes to one day be big. That isn't to say that my definition is definitive (what?) or that a small company that doesn't fit into it is less worthy. I've always used the t

I upvoted this because I didn't feel it was stupid (certainly not enough to hit 0 points). Condemning Gitmo is not endorsing terrorism. Condemning the idea of "illegal information" is not endorsing child abuse. Child porn is usually a resul

Sure is, it's in the repo so "sudo apt-get install lyx" should grab it. It's also available for Windows/OS X so you might be better off just trying it on your primary OS. http://www.lyx.org/ I don't think you're going to find the kind of

Is a digital animation studio a startup? It doesn't really have a huge scaling potential does it? Your output is constrained by your animation stable surely. The closest analogue to a breakaway product or hot patent would be a hugely popula

I'm pretty sure the title is tongue in cheek, and would be more accurately rendered as "I hated lisp when I first had to learn it", considering e.g. the name of the blog, and posts like these with considerable lispy content. http://funcall

so ... it turns out that this is just a property of floating point math... weird that I've never seen that before. It behaves the same in Python and MzScheme, so I can't imagine that this is something "keeping people away" from javascript.

I'm not sure if I should flag this or vote this up for trying to harness the hackernews effect to win an seo contest. On the one hand it's evil, but on the cooler hand it's really clever.
