Basically irrelevant on platforms other than the web—no iOS user will think you app is dated because it looks like the apps Apple makes, ditto Windows, Android, and so on—and even there I’ve seen this repeated as folk-wisdom but have never

The more exposure I get to folks way “above” me in business, or riches, or whatever, the more convinced I am that very few people at any level are really much good at what they do and most of what goes on is just very serious role-playing a

I know we’ve been busy declaring victory over all those old-timer print designers who’d transitioned to web & software, and hailing the rise of the “digital native” designer for like the whole past decade or so, but to me it looks like

My experience is a lot of money gets burnt making designs match some on-brand design that looks awesome in mockups but is worse for the user than just using the platform default GUI widgets with maybe some light color theming. Worse if they

I just like how lightweight they are, and (this may be silly, I know) I like how good-looking and useful the included templates are. Also they rarely crash or do anything weird, which you'd think would just be normal by now, but very m

Apple's office suite is really nice, if you're in that world. I dunno if they do collaborative editing, but Notes does, so they might. If it's gotta be in a browser—IDK, it bugs me having a document editor or spreadsheet prog

I used an IBM Thinkpad from 2003-2008 or so, but never got used to the trackpoint despite several attempts. Was always wildly inaccurate with it. The trackpad, though a god-awful rage-generation device, was still much more usable.

I think spending about a third of my waking hours thinking about stupid computer shit is already plenty. If an employer doesn't want to help me use some of that time to get better at what I do, I bet someone else does.
