We're glad you've noticed. There's lot more to come in the next 6-9 months, and beyond. Signed, A kinder, gentler Death Star

Indeed a good idea. Every quarter or so I do lists of Top 3 this and the Esssential 5 that, pulled from this list.

Agreed, at some point with some categories I admit in the post that I'm just collecting and reviewing tools, RegEx ones are a good example, for fun. Other times two or three tools exist because there is a specific gap in one filled by anoth

It's pretty well maintained. I run not only PowerShell and Cygwin but straight DOS and sometimes I like having, for example, baretail in the path, rather than messing with Cygwin. Also I keep the loose cmd line utils in dropbox and in the p

Ya, I think grayscale or false-colored images would help.

Well said. I wasn't trying to say DropBox is the only or the first. They had the will and attention to detail that so so many sites don't.

We all moved with him. All of IIS and ASP.NET works for ScottGu. In fact, all Angle Brackets are under ScottGu, myself included. Our org chart: http://www.hanselman.com/blog/content/binary/Windows-Live-Wr...

Thanks for the update. Point taken, and touché. That is funny/ironic. Would be equally as much were I to work at Apple, Amazon or Google, I suppose. I spoke to Zach beforehand and wasn't intending to call him out (which I thought I made cle

It's a coincidence. Not everything in my life has to do with my employer. FWIW, note that I work from home on open source and many of our projects are on GitHub. Zach and I are cool. No one's in a twist, we just differ on how to reach an au

It was written completely from a sincere place. I used to study linguistics and 10 years ago was pretty darn good at languages. I see dudes like Tim Ferriss saying they can learn a new language in three months (I question this) and I speak

Sure, my hope is that if they emailed me (NOT at mobile me email, but a non-Apple address) at my Gmail which is setup for 2-factor, for confirmation that'd be ideal. The irony is that they are all setup for 2-factor auth...the phones I have

If it was a reused password, I'm an idiot. But, I'm willing to assume I am an idiot. My point is two-fold: 1. Allowing new devices to buy stuff without two-factor auth is weak sauce. 2. The larger meta-point that when we rely on the cloud i

Preferably my Google Apps account, for which I have two factor auth enabled. Or perhaps my SmartCard enabled work email. Or even my SMS 2-factor Facebook email.

No, there are no credit cards attached to my account. The commenter is mistaken. I also haven't received an emailed receipt so I suspect a larger backend hack. My systems are secure.
