If you discovered a new species of ape, and wanted to put it in a zoo, what would you feed it? Would you try random things, or would you try to emulate what it ate in the wild? This is what paleo is attempting to do for humans. Agriculture

"..most of the programmers I socialise with tend to see comments as a bad smell.." I think it really depends on the language and context. Most of my development these days is native iOS on the client side, and Node.js via CoffeeScript on th

Let me clear that up. The biochemistry of obesity is not trivial, but knowing what to eat to control your weight is not hard. It just takes some research and self experimentation. It's empowering when you figure out how certain foods affect

The truth is, you guys are both right. The only people I know who think obesity is complex are the people who still believe in calories in = calories out. Calories DO matter, but only at a certain point. Fat only makes you fat if you are al

I can't believe there's not a single mention of Vitamin D in this article. People with normal levels of Vitamin D are healthier than people who are deficient. There's really no mystery there. I'm sure it's even more important for developing

Facebook makes $36/user per year, on average. They are mostly about photos. Instagram knows this. $0.99 will be cutting it way too short. I don't understand why companies like this don't just offer an ad-free pay option with a stronger priv

I never see diet mentioned in articles dealing with mental disorders. Research[1] shows that eating a natural foods ancestral diet free of gluten and casein can reduce symptoms of ADHD and autism. The recent rise in mental disorders seems t

I'm surprised this is iPhone only and not a universal app with iPad support. I frequently bring my iPad with me when I drive to act as a turn by turn navigation device. Anyone know why? Hope it's coming.

I was working on an Ajax (remember that word?) calendar app called Caladabra around the same time Justin was building Kiko. I also gave up after Google Calendar was released. Wish I had the foresight to put it on eBay! Anyway, congrats to J

Some people much smarter than myself, like Dr. Robert Lustig at UCSF, believe that sugar is the main cause for "diseases of affluence" like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. I've been on the Paleo diet, which eschews refined sugar, for o

The design of this app looks awesome, but I don't think we need more todo apps in the App Store. I have a huge list of app ideas with not enough time to implement all of them. Every few weeks I see one of my ideas, done by someone else, hit

Are you kidding me? The tracking on that app is abysmal. It has not one, but two banner ads, one on the top, one on the bottom. Furthermore the UI obscures much of the image. And you have to purchase the pack that includes the mustache. The

Have you ever watched a movie, listened to music, or played a game? All pretty useful eh? Stachify makes most people laugh or smile, which probably lowers their stress a bit. Lower stress means improved health. I think that's pretty useful.

Not really. Moustagram only lets you add the same mustache to still pictures. Stachify uses the face detection API in iOS 5 to add mustaches in real-time. You can also add staches to existing photos if you want. Stachify also doesn't requir
