As other comments here and on the post itself point out, that page which is a marketing site "about" news feed, not actually News feed, was built by contractors with zero knowledge or involvement by Facebook engineering. The reaso

The point I was making (badly) is that he states that News Feed by Facebook uses Vue. News Feed is a well known product by one of the largest companies in the world, and if Vue were indeed used by it (as React is) it would be a huge endorse

Right, it's just as valid (that is to say it is not at all) to claim that this comment thread uses Vue since it discusses it. YCombinator runs Hacker News on Vue now! It's a shame since it's otherwise a well written article

It's a bit disingenuous to say that Facebook uses Vue for Newsfeed. It's on a marketing site, not on a performance and business critical part of the site. These marketing sites are very often built by contractors, not FB engineers

Related, another cool thing that Voronoi graphs are useful for is enumeration all possible paths a robot can take in an environment. This can be used to determine the quality of the map built with sonar/radar/lidar, to better unde

If you're interested in building Voronoi and Delaunay graphs in C++, I wrote some easily reusable code years ago, a fixed up version of Stephen Fortunes algorithm. http://chofter.com/mapviewer/voronoi.php Pardon m

They didn't break tests, instead a whole load of new tests were added, specifically around server side rendering, which exposed some gaps in coverage. This is exactly the type of openness you want to see for such a widely used project

If that is the case, then this would have avoided the real problem that needs solving here. Throwing together some rendering and keyboard handling is not game changing. Getting good performance is the hard problem that needs solving. Perha

I completely agree. I went through this at my first job 13 years ago. I was hugely underpaid. I'd gotten the highest rating and highest raise each year for two years, but still made barely more than new grads coming in as the job ma

No, React came out of the Ads team in Facebook where we used it build the Ads Create Flow (facebook.com/ads/create), but Instagram were early adopters who really helped push it forward (shout to the awesome Pete Hunt!) along with

It's worth clarifying that Isaac, the engineer behind Draft.js, also basically built the entire thing himself. He did it inside a large company of course, but it was his labour of love for a long, long time. This is the type of cool s

You can also process it offline, so you only ship standard JS. The in-browser processing is an option you can choose to use at development time if you find it quicker/simpler.

One of the cool things you can do with their code is build it all in Flash, using existing tools, then convert it to Bonsai. Not so good for real web heads, but great for Flash people
