I agree, it seems like he hasn't really thought about his response, having written and pushed it out so fast that he hasn't even had a chance to spell or grammar check it.

I get frustrated when I post a massive comment on an article which never gets read, I don't believe it would add to the environment of the website to have it cost me 'karma' also, it would effectively take away my inclination to comment on

I refuse to deal with Paypal, 6 months ago, I had a charge refused by my bank and before I had received a letter 5 days later Paypal had already backcharged all the payments I had made since to my account, stating that my account was now £6

Could not agree more, I used to hate frameworks but after experiencing codeigniter I can definitely see the benefits now, faster development, less complicated code and a structured site architecture. Though, the crypto packages on CI could

I personally prefer PHP, having used both. I'm not saying that Ruby is better or PHP is better, it really depends on your ability with the two, but from what I have found in the past, PHP has been easier to scale and has performed well, it

Well what happens is this, when your browser initializes the SSL engine, it checks every object on the page has been loaded over the same protocol, regardless of the URL preceding it. So anything which isn't loaded breaks this process and o

Fabulous! just started using it now, great job. I love approaches like this, as opposed to just moaning feature X doesn't exist, implement it!

I disagree, I believe that not being able to see part of a conversation because you have blocked some people would be irksome. I suppose it could be true for brutal trolls and the most rude of people, but it would eventually be used to igno

Yes, but that is a case where the safety of my family really comes before my pride, I would never intentionally do anything to endanger my family.

I currently earn around GBP460 per month (Yeah... no typo... 460) This is my first job as a programmer, so I'm coming in from the "I'll work for nearly nothing if you discard the lack of a degree for long enough to see how good I really am"

Thanks a lot, your advice on Vectors over your last few articles has really expanded my knowledge of what you can really do with Arrays if you think of them as pieces of an object rather than just a (generally) unordered list of "stuff".

I agree, at the moment, HN is being dominated by Apple versus Samsung, a large amount of c and c++ and other general tech news. Unfortunately for you I come here almost exclusively for tech news, so if I see something unrelated to technolog

Love it, I have had to design 2d and 3d grids before now and the information you gave on faces for polygonal grids has been really helpful and will help me to break the square mold, so to speak.

Any chance of an overview of the algorithm you're using to filter out the text? My thinking is you are measuring word count versus commonly used marketing or political jargon count, but that's probably too simple.

Yeah, it's invite only too, so the idea is, you lower yourself and apply or you get invited by a friend because they like you. So the end result is either it's full of really friendly, intelligent, hand picked people, or it becomes a clique

I think the same applies for everyone, you have to expand your horizons unless the company you work for is extremely locked down on technologies. Everyone should know a few languages so they have the tools they need to do their job properly
