For whatever it's worth, I think your comment would be a whole lot more convincing without its first and last lines, which had the effect of making you sound (at least to me) like you're shallowly dismissing the article.

The author describes that site as such, which seems fair to rate as "terrible": > Some youtube downloader site. Has lots of assurances that the website and the tool are safe because they've been checked by "Norton Saf

It's been a rough couple years as a Fitbit user; ever since the acquisition, Google's been slowly but surely shuttering the service piece by piece, and pretty much everyone can see that Google's only interested in pushing the

I don't think any of us can know for sure, since the classification and sentiment analysis were both performed by an LLM, and I'm not seeing validation of the results by the author. You can imagine certain security/cryptograp

Funnily enough, it means both; the author's classifier lumps cryptography articles in with cryptocurrency (search for "homomorphic encryption"): https://github.com/corbt/hn-analysis/blob/main&#x

Is it just me, or does the article not show how posts were classified as AI vs crypto? I see that they "use an LLM" but don't see a code snippet describing how, or an attempt at assessing error rates, which seems like a basic

Reading this article, it seems to me that the only evidence we have of a launch is one guy telling us he did it, and... neglected to do any sort of measurement / recording? The whole thing is suspiciously light on any sort of confirm-a

This is an interesting question. Doesn't Signal rather famously not track anything about who you're talking to? Reputational damage to Signal's brand aside, I expect it'd be hard to sell advertisers on a black hole.

This assumption isn't true, though. APIs routinely get changed in minor versions, which can make it non-trivial to upgrade large codebases that use lots of features.

I think asking him to refute points gets to the heart of the issue -- in an environment where nobody has enough information to speak authoritatively on a subject, the people who are willing to do so anyways are advantaged. (Think about the
