Freund seems to suggest that hugepages is the right way to run a system under this sort of load - which is the fix. > Hah. I had reflexively used huge_pages=on - as that is the only sane thing to do with 10s to 100s of GB of shared memor

CPPReference is not the C++ standard. Its a wiki. It gets things wrong. It doesn't always give you the full information. Probably best not to rely on it, for things that matter. But, for example, LLVM does not fully support IEEE 754 [0

The standard warns that macros and assertions can return true for this one, even if it isn't actually true. The warning, because that's what compilers currently do. Its one of the caveats of the C-family that developers are suppos

I can test for some of those. So I can support a broader range of platforms, than just "works for me". I can't support IEEE 754, so its simply irrelevant - so long as I know I cannot support it, and behaviour differs.

Okay, as the last wasn't obvious enough: C does not do IEEE 754 math. It is _all_ non-IEEE 754 math. That it isn't compliant is a compiler guarantee, in the current state of things. You may as well have an `assert(1)`.

Well, last year clang did not define __STDC_IEC_559__, so assuming IEEE-754 math with most C compilers is a bad idea.

The competition in this particular space is YouGov. Who have the same or higher accuracy rating, and are already being employed by all the incumbents. This seems to get about the same results as a random sampling poll, but with AI instead o

Git was built for email, because that's the system Linux uses. Commits appear inline. Diffs are reviewed and commented inline. Email is the review process, and commits contain enough information that git blame can get you a reasoning -

So you'd disagree with style that Linux uses for their commits? Random example: Provide a new syscall which has the only purpose to yield the CPU after the kernel granted a time slice extension. sched_yield() is not suitable for that b

Hebrew is a reconstructed language. Whilst some roots will predate the Torah, most won't. Several words, like the infamous "shibboleth" won't be inherited, or their meanings may wildly differ.
