There's a big difference between promoting your Etsy fountain pens store and promoting the fountain pen you're making and selling, though. I think the author is the latter, while the type of promo you're talking about is usua

It’s not the data caps that really gets me heated. It’s their exclusion of their own services from the caps and the anti-consumer practices and the lobbying and the stifling of competition that really get to me. And to top it all off their

Agreed. My three person household would regularly hit my Comcast data cap of 1TB. They’re absolutely going to start lowering the cap, and they already charge you per Gb that you go over. They have an effective monopoly over my whole city, t

I have two questions: 1) How much of this behavior is just a young child growing up and clashing with their parents? The author seems to blame the iPhone for their personality change, but it just seems to me that it coincides with a common

As cliche as it may be to repeat, companies like that have real value they can benefit from in missions like these, not to mention there is a good argument to be made for preservation viewed as an investment for modern companies with anthro

Exactly my thought. if your state modeling is so in-depth and advanced, either decompose it into smaller state tables and analyze those individually or go full-formal with TLA+.

That’s what 2020 has felt like to me. The fall of Rome. It’s like we had every single advantage we could have wanted and blundered it all. Maybe we just aren’t meant to be this connected, thus aware, this effective. We’re just not responsib

A bottom-up rewrite of modern computer engineering for performance and capability would probably qualify as one of our largest engineering endeavors in human history. But I would totally be on board for that. There would inevitably be some

Yeah but no one is saying to give people infinite money? Poverty is expensive, and it’s cheaper in the medium term to house homeless for free and get them on track to paying taxes again than to let them run up hospital bills for preventable

This seems hyperbolic. Filecoin hasn’t even launched yet and you’re calling it poorly executed. Sia has its own set of problems and trade offs they made, which you’re really glossing over here.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was getting the average person to blame themselves and not corporations for climate change. The numbers simply don’t add up for a consumer oriented solution to make any sense.

Nuclear is the only way we’re going to be able to get ahead of climate change. Renewables do not have the energy density required at this point. In the 70s? Sure, we might have been able to get ahead of it. At this point, we’re going to nee
