When we started Chimpy in 2014 (power bank rental company in Switzerland, later more EU countries) we got suitcases and hauled the charged power banks to the convenience stores and hauled back the returned ones. Not using cars, but using tr

Exactly. Keeping wetlands intact is very important for climate change, because draining them releases a shit ton of greenhouse gases. Of course, it's also important for biodiversity.

I don't dispute that they were close to running out of money, but what does "2 days" even mean in that context? It probably means that soon they would have needed to decide when to start the bankrucpty procedues or something.

True, but would be a good step to take now before opening up completely. I mean, sooner or later they will need to do it, and they have been taking their sweet time. Maybe their engineers should get back to work instead of posting bullcrap

I'm pretty certain this is not the reason Clubhouse died out. That format was dead on arrival, and only lived that long because it was artificially kept alive by tech bros and VCs.

I'm not saying that everyone should be able to create an account, just that posts should be visible publicly.

I get the marketing thing, but if this is the only reason, they've missed the mark. That's cool to do for like a couple of months, not years.

I understand why Bluesky doesn't let anyone create an account just yet, but why don't they make posts publicly visible without needing an account? I think this is important for many news and governmental organizations to take Blue

Fucking hate LinkedIn and didn't have a profile for many years. Recently started a new company, and if you want to be taken "seriously" by investors and business customers, you need to have a LinkedIn profile. There's no

At least in Europe, we do have instant online transfers between banks. But yes, the duopoly situation sucks. And of course, the privacy situation with credit card companies is not nearly as bad in Europe as it's in the US. I think we n

I just realized reading all these replies with people who also suffer from it does somehow help. It helps to worry less, because evidently there's not much that can be done medically (at least for now). So, thanks for this!

True, Chromium is open source. But as others have stated: Google is the main driver and benfactor of Chromium, and we need more diversity in the browser engine game. The examples you mentioned don't suffer from the same quasi-monopoly

I've used Arc as my main browser for a few months, and loved the Spaces feature that lets you sandbox cache and cookies. Very similar to Firefox Multi-Account Containers, but the UI is better because you can swipe to the next Space and

No, no. We're talking about food delivery here, which is a purely luxury need and market. This is not a problem tech needs to solve.

This is a policy problem, not a tech problem. People need to be paid a living wage, period. The lack of this and the subsidizing of delivery fees by VC money has led people to believe it's somehow sustainable to sit on your lazy ass, o

This might be news to some people, but there are other modes of transportation / delivery than 2-ton cars. "2-ton cars vs. flying drones" is a false dichotomy.

Completely agree with you. I think it's just a problem of incentives for the people who make this decisions and work at these positions. "Verbeamtung" (tenure) also doesn't help.
