These days I mostly use Ctrl-C instead of Esc, just because it's so much easier to type. If you make a serious commitment to vi(m) though, binding your capslock to esc is probably the better way to go.

There's a certain parallel to draw with the Iron Ring/Engineer's Ring[1,3]. Quoting from the latter article: The Iron Ring is worn on the little finger ("pinky") of the working (dominant) hand; this would be the left hand for a left-handed

I'm entirely in favour of increasing the resolution/bit-depth for video, but I think the general problem is more complicated by external factors. The cost of renting a red one and recording straight digital vs hiring a film camera, process

People from a musical, non-signals background tend to use 'harmonics' as a synonym for 'overtones' or 'partial tones', which is where the confusion arises, I suspect. There's a measure -- inharmonicity[1] -- of how far the actual overtones

There seems to be some strange idea that analogue means 'infinite detail'. In this particular case, there's no significant difference between being limited by the original digital recording resolution and the grain size of a film recording.

On occasion I've idly wondered about what would happen if you started enforcing a relatively strict '1 in, 1 out' policy. There must be plenty of crap on the books that either is completely outdated, subsumed by other more recent statutes,

If you merge these 2 aspects: DRM first, free(er) one later, you could get most of the money, and the PR bonus of being DRM free, which, as more people get annoyed by cumbersome DRM, could even give you a 2nd sales bump. The problem would b
