Now I'm wondering if you could embed an out of band protocol in all your TCP traffic on the internet at large by misusing those mostly ignored, but accessible, bits. At worst just to eek out ~16 more bits per packet.

Making using a shrinkwrap not awful would be amazing. Having fast immutable shrinkwrap installs, and the ability to upgrade or selectively upgrade packages in the shrinkwrap vs. the semver in package.json would be a huge win.

You know, we still write lots of stuff in Node (and Python and Go). A bunch of the stuff we are working on can be found on our GH page https://github.com/uber

Node easily does arbitrary sized numbers. This is achieved either using Node's own Buffer type, TypedArrays or a binding such as BigNum which provides an interface to the number functions in Node's openSSL binding.

I work on the dispatch team at Uber. Whenever you use the app we are the team that connects riders with vehicles. Obviously for our team real-time is key. The team was actually one of the first production users of Node.js, but we also have

This looks like a great project! I'd also remind people about HN user aristus' Lauren Ipsum book ( http://www.laurenipsum.org/ ) for kids. Every one you buy he donates one to schools, etc.

I'm surprised this took them so long. I hope Github's new round means they are going to be more responsive to customers. I like the company and the founders and team I know there, but it's been frustrating to have to wait for features like

DNode is about Node APIs on the client, where as YUI is about x-client code. As such I'm assuming moving YUI based rendering back is a lot more x-client compatible than using DNode to mimic Node's I/O interfaces. I think my point is that sh

Not an application, just a benchmark. There was some keep-alive, and a small amount of state being passed from memory, but nothing heavy. At that level of contention you'll easily saturate a core making the application useless. My point is

There are a bunch of factors in scaling up a Node service. Like any other technology memory per user is a factor, in Node this tends to be connection state, and some application state. Node currently has a ~2gb JavaScript limit per process

This title is a great piece of FUD. Anyone paying a little more attention would have seen the original paper ( http://www.nruns.com/_downloads/advisory28122011.pdf ) which states: "PHP 5, Java, ASP.NET as well as v8 are fully vulnerable to
