I think that Google didn't see the business case in that generation of models, and also saw significant safety concerns. If AI had been delayed by... 5 years... would the world really be a worse place? Yes - less exciting! But worse?

The product is the LLM, the wrap has marginal value atm. You can write an agent, it's cool. I can copy it. I cannot build my own LLM (although I can run open source ones).

Yes - it's not a problem with the technique... it's a problem with you! (or me!) I remember feeling very small and very embarrassed. I remember consultants all puffed up with pride in their intellectual purity. These are patterns

I was thinking more about my experience in corporate settings. Hardware needs to be procured or implemented in the cloud - there's a lot of work on the architectures and costs early in projects so as to ensure that things will cost in.

I just feel that the community has learned nothing. Opinions about "what works" being pushed as fact. No evidence, no attempt to create evidence (because it's hard). Enless commentary and opinion pieces, naive people being co

It's important to consider the potential long run impact of this work. It may be 30 years or more before the impact of genetic manipulation in humans becomes apparent. This could cause very signifcant suffering to those effected. The m

Why would I believe that any of this works? This is just some blokes idea of what people should do. There is no evidence offered. No attempt to measure the benefits.

Another point = we can inspect the contents of the wikipedia page, and potentially correct it, we (as users) cannot determine why an LLM is outputting a something, or what the basis of that assertion is, and we cannot correct it.
