If the CEO sets the ceiling pay, and an acceptable range is $100-125k, what then constitutes acceptable pay for (non-CEO) founders? Is $60k too high (given reasonable funding, pre-profitability)? $80k? Just curious at what the usual funding

I second that. I can only hope we have some of the design sense your startup has. And good luck at DEMO, I look forward to watching your video once it's posted.

At this point, I'll be happy when this year's DEMO and TC50 have gone by and I can just watch the videos. No more drama, no more endless provocation. Seriously, just focus on the more productive topics. This feels like the equivalent of whe

I suppose he has a point if you're a regular Scoble reader. I hardly know him (I know of him though), so I'm exactly sure what his complaints are targeting. Websites that aren't catchy enough, because they don't have videos? Or they're not

It's a great idea, even is Amazon doesn't make much per sale (or perhaps anything). The marginal cost of processing these sales has to be negligible, and the positive pr from articles such as this of considerable value. For the OLPC team, i

That made me chuckle at myself a bit. I think you might be right about my comment on pedantry being pedantic. Point taken, and thanks for bringing that to my attention. I think that even though Arlington gets caught up a bit in what he perc

I was using the question to illustrate a point, but thank you for that wonderful explanation :) I simply meant to point out that there are things that are not immediately obvious to people who are not actively involved in this area, and it

I don't think pedantic comments really add much to the discussion. The audience here understands what he means, though the writing may not be clear. Chrome could eventually be positioned as a layer between applications and the OS, with an a

I think it's an innovative idea, but speaking form just a tiny bit of personal experience, buying and selling pieces of companies (excluding the stock market) can be terribly confusing. Am I buying 10% for my $20,000? Then why is it, one ye

I agree. Your passion for the idea you're working on should make it more or less easy to explain it to others - maybe not concisely, but you can surely talk about it. Explain your vision exactly as you hope it to be - changing it to meet ot

I listened to the video, and I have to say I was inspired. The startup I'm working with helps communities and students, and that's a hugely motivating factor - but I love exploring my python co-dependent species evolution sandbox. I lost th

Our startup didn't make the cut, so perhaps I'm subconsciously biased. But even so, I think that TC50 is an acceptable venue, and they're fairly upfront with everything, as far as I can tell. I agree with them DEMO drama - but I'm one to av

Was very interesting to see quick clips of the different videos. A diverse group, and some great ideas. Hope we'll be treated to more in-depth videos of the pitches, eventually.

We're using Symfony as well, and it's been quite wonderful. Fitting into the framework took some time, but its abstraction allowed us to move from mysql to posgresql for testing, and then back to mysql without much thought at all. Also, opt

I'm not sure I understand entirely - it sounds like MVC architecture to me. I'm not sure what layers he's handling, but seems like he's at least abstracting the database away into some simpler calls. As long as he separates everything in a

This is a sensitive topic for me, since I'm in love with studying. I have to disagree with a few points, namely that universities have developed into bureaucracies primarily seeking to further careers. I worked as an undergraduate researche

I think amazon is approaching this in the right fashion - when you have a major outage, show that you understand exactly what the issue is, and why it won't happen in the future. That's quite a while to be down, but their openness, and what
