That's not the case in many places (including prestigious universities - and due to their research orientation, perhaps it happens more, the more prestigious it is). It is virtually impossible to get into a teaching position post-docto

I did my graduate work in Europe, and I think it is crazy how a bunch of unqualified/ semi-qualified students without their doctorates are teaching in US universities. We had exactly 0 doctoral candidates teaching classes, whereas it i

Who would ever only want to work for a company that exclusively uses Apple products? That is an insane level of fanboyism that doesn't indicate a fully rational actor.

I have been duped like this before too! Believe a story that just doesn't ring right when you tell it to somebody else years later. Teaching / communicating corrects a lot of errors.

That is literally what I said, so yes, I agree. But the fact he bought a social media company does not impact it, outside of him using it to amplify his visibility.

I don't even understand your point. 1. A billion is 1000x more than a million. It is many times higher wealth and far beyond what could be considered required for a family to survive on for generations. 2. A million is not even enough

That is like the average FAANG-wealthy programmer buying a modest house with a loan. It has little effect on his wealth outside of the egregious display of his behavior.

One of only about three things I miss from switching away from Windows, is that I now have to use Sublime instead of Notepad++. It was just so much better at dealing with large files and batch operations, which are a priority for my work. B

I would never trust that. It is how thing are supposed to work, not the way they necessarily will. Just buy a phone with physical disconnect switches if it is important enough for you.
