We are the engineers. It is up to us to tell non technical managers what's important. They don't know shit, they're just there to handle the shit we don't want to handle, like talking to clients or upper management or wh

> It's not a question of laziness, it's just that people don't do it so you need automated tools to do it for them Sounds a lot like laziness to me. It may be more accurate to say it's because people don't care.

"we are lazy assholes who can't keep docs up to date, therefore docs are useless" Is essentially the argument i see over and over again. And every time i start a new project and that project has docs or uml or whatever I appr

I don't doubt that this happens. Mods are people and people make mistakes. Though i also think it is in part that the Asker doesn't understand how to apply the answer to their issue rather than the answer not being relevant. In my

If you show an example i can either try to explain why it is the way it is or i can agree with you that it is unreasonable. I can not say anything useful about a hypothetical scenario you make up. Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't, we

You can't let the OP decide if their question is good. Every OP thinks their question is good and most of them are idiots. I guarantee you most of the people complaining about SO do so because they suck at asking questions.

If you want to have this discussion you're going to have to provide a concrete example.

Well your question was apparently so uniquely bad that they recognized it and correctly identified the duplicate by your coworker. So maybe you're just salty because they were right.

Posting duplicate questions hurts the community. The whole idea is to have one answer for one question. If the answer changes over time it is updated. This does not work if there are 500 identical questions. SO is not your personal helpdesk

I'm not saying it has to be trained on the specific question directly, it has to be trained on similar data. It has a decent knowledge of programming languages because it has been trained on a lot of data surrounding them. Being capabl

It can only answer questions it has been trained to know the answers to. Ask it an original question that isn't in the training set and it gets it wrong. This is clear evidence that it does not possess logical reasoning skills.

Not really sure what you're saying. The LLM is capable of parroting doomsayings from text it's trained on? Yeah that does not come as any kind of surprise. Maybe you want to bring up a point, something concrete that we can actuall

Yeah i know that that's the idea, i just don't really understand how a computer program i wrote that runs on my computer could become "uncontrollable". I can just shut it down whenever i want to. As far as I know it'

Yeah ChatGPT is great. Really cool tech. I just don't think it's going to change or take over the world, or take people's jobs. It's far too unreliable. People don't understand that it's just a text generator.

I have yet to see someone explain how a GPT will cause our extinction. God damn this tech is so insanely overrated.

Wow what a useless article. I actually read the whole thing looking for some insight and it isn't there. It's basically just saying "CICO works but i don't like it and here are some vague pointless metaphors about a hous
