It's referred to as 'compound chocolate' [1]. It's done because to make paletable chocolate you need to add a greater porportion of cocoa butter than is in cocoa beans themselves. This makes the cocoa butter more expensi

Heat absolutely does kill bacteria. Heating water for just a few minutes at 60C will kill e. coli, 70C will kill it instantly. Coffee is brewed at 90-100C. [1] https://academic.oup.com/jtm/article-pdf/3/1/

People who are pro-HFT see it as a way of increasing the 'liquidity' of the market. In their eyes it makes it easier to move volume of stock, and moves the bid price of the stock closer to the ask price of the stock.

This to me is always great PR for Tesla (for those who look into the details). If they're willing to do a recall for something as not-safety-critical as this, it means when a real safety issue occurs they will recall. There have been

In my experience it's very easy to grow separated from people you don't see organically. That doesn't mean you don't want to be close with them, or they're not important to you, just that life without help won'

One of the great things about having all of this great tooling is it makes the easiest way to do something also the best way. They were able to quickly spin something up which, incidentally, could also massively scale should it need to.

Given the context provided in this post, it seems pretty blatant and obvious. Stealing a design is one thing, stealing the circuit board design from an unreleased product is espionage.

In my experience it is taken as a given that people will continue needing medical care of one sort or another, so doctors at the microlevel don't worry too much about patients getting _too well_. The exception to this would be some co

We understand the compiler pretty well. You can grab a Bio textbook and find incredibly detailed diagrams of how the genetic transcription process works. It is true that we don't understand every factor, but it's likely the most

Of all the things to modify though, why a transcription factor? Of course there are things in the genome which modifications of would have problematic results. The question is if we should modify those parts we do think would lead to a bet

If we truly want to eliminate disease though it's not enough to cure disorders, sometimes you have to be able to prevent them, and sometimes they're going to be genetic. Not allowing scientists to use every tool in their arsenal i
