Slight correction there, you are not “paying with your tax money” thus expecting something from it. Paying to buy something assumes you willingly committed to the deal and had the option to back out. You did not have such an option so you m

Not most of the dead though, one certainly wouldn’t envy the guy that died an hour ago after days of radiation poisoning or starvation.

Well said. I would add they do the same once they jump out of the car, especially when placing speed traps that cause artificial traffic interruptions and possibly accidents. And when they unnecessarily pull over and harass drivers on the h

Governments and most education institutions are not part of the free market. Their income also does not depend on their efficiency or value they create so its not the same comparison.

I mean you have got a point. Forces serving governments are known to kill innocents in cold blood, and commit plenty of genocides, so yeah…

Read the article. Switzerland is already emitting less than a third per capita than an average American. Probably got stuck with the same percentage reduction to meet some global quotas, and they are increasing efficiency in other countries

Why 8? Doesn’t there need to be a premium for borrowing money? If i can borrow money at zero percent inflation adjusted rate, that is a great deal and still inflationary. I would say 12 percent would be neutral on 10 percent inflation.

I’d suggest to go one step further to advanced income. Government guarantees advanced income for everyone, why stop at basic, are you not generous enough?

that is very wrong though. Governments or other monopolies don't enforce free markets. People are free by default and act as such, unless someone forces them otherwise (a big government).

That means cloudflare is such a good company for offering cheap and good service, yet somehow we find a way to attack them because their competition is not “as good”. What a shame that this company that is not supporting their competitors?

Upvoted. Love that you are not suggesting that another (worse?) monopoly (the government) has to come and save us poor devs. We have options and in reality Google is not a monopoly.

It is easy to pick an example like this to show the “bad” sides. But what is the alternative? If people had to pay inheritance tax on their family home, how many could not afford such a tax bill and would have to get rid of their family hom
