I appreciate the arguments on both sides of this, but it's hard for me to get past the point that the satellites are temporary infrastructure, whereas Earth-based fixed wireless or fiber/wire lines are fairly permanent. It's

This is a very reasonable comment. Social sciences are frustratingly imprecise. But, understanding the history of various scenarios is useful. And, it can result in useful policy changes which avoid the worst, as you mentioned.

This makes me curious how lending club and prosper are doing right now. Does anyone have loans they’ve extended on the platforms who is willing to say if they’re seeing a rise in missed payments?

My reply will probably get drowned out, but part of what's going on here (for me at least) is Google Amp. I browse reddit as a registered user, and I set the flag for them to stop directing me to the app on mobile. The problem is, if a

The key is when the options are priced. I believe even Steve Jobs got in trouble for that 15 or so years ago.

Well, to be fair, I hate driving. So if they do, I'll buy one. Simple as that. I'm waiting!

No I really, really, really don't want to debate it. I'm not kidding. And I have no position either way and never will. I'm just an observer.

Does anybody else share my sort of shell-shock WRT Tesla? I'm one of those who thinks its stock (and probably all the big tech names) are in a bubble. But whenever I say that I get shouted down, downvoted, told I'm an idiot, etc.

Samsung has to use Google search because of the Android licensing agreement, which goes back to IP. If they could, they’d switch off to Bing and get a better revshare.

It seems like it matters that the people riding horses and motorcycles are choosing to do that. No one chooses to have a radioactive cloud come kill them.

I worked on some code once for an app that would crash if you added a comment in a specific place. We removed the comment and then added a comment asking developers not to re-add the comment.

It’s impossible to buy a used Tesla for anywhere close to $8500. I find the comparison compelling.

Let’s hope. The question is how relevant the 13.5k subsidy is to whether others can compete. The top comment about luxury cars being irrational purchases is probably the best commentary here.

When I was 23 and doing startups full time, I slept on a hardwood floor with just a blanket and a pillow. Helped me to get up in the morning and do work, did nothing bad for my body as far as I can tell.

As someone pointed out in this thread, a lot of this is strength of resume and where you went to college. Without that you’ll be pushing upstream. I don’t find my advice is very useful to people because they can’t replicate my situation.
