Author here: I don’t think the commenter here has set the same focal length, the focal length can make a surface appear curved, I set it explicitly to a low value to test the algorithm’s ability to handle the increased distortion. You can g

The goal for this vanilla TS renderer is to have visual diffing on GitHub and a renderer that works without a browser environment. Most 3D renderers focus on realtime speed, not file size and runtime portability. I think in practice we will

Defs saved the day here on file size- repeating the image (which we usually base64 encode) would have caused a much larger file size and made rasterization much more appealing!

This weekend working on an open-source algorithm to automatically lay out schematics. Easy problem to do poorly and very difficult to do well! My current approach is “match to existing corpus of well-laid-out schematics, then adapt until th

Yep! It basically runs pg_dump and categorizes all of the output into different files so it should be comprehensive. I think there's `functions/function_name.sql`, `misc.sql`, `triggers.sql` etc.

This solves a major problem that I built an npm package called "pgstrap"[1] for. It generates a "database structure" directory so that my database schema is available to LLMs (it also makes code review easier because you

XY coordinates are more or less temporary. We are working on llm-compatible layout definitions which operate more with constraints or loose auto placement specifications than XY directly eg https://docs.tscircuit.com/footpri

We think that intuitive element names should be added to the tscircuit spec, even if they're redundant/there are multiple ways to do something. Right now you would probably use a <chip /> (very general purpose), but <

(tscircuit maintainer here) It might be easier to think of tscircuit as an electronics CAD kernel. We're MIT licensed and web-compatible, so we would make a great foundation for people building new EDA tools or people who would like to

tscircuit maintainer here, we actually do support constraint-based modeling for footprints, although we don't use it often because we also support "short string" footprints which are often faster https://docs.tscir

Most likely you won’t be asking for specific things like “3mm hole 3in from the side”, you’ll say things like “Create a plastic enclosure sized to go under a desk, ok add a usb receptacle opening, ok add flanges with standard screw holes” I

Agree, although the acronym in the article could be interpreted to mean “you are going to read it, so index it appropriately”, which is sort of bad advice and can lead to overindexing. There is probably something better for “add appropriate

Would love to use this for interactive tscircuit tutorials! Is it easy to create a course? The output looks great! Is the web preview saved as a video or rendered dynamically? In the case of tscircuit, we run an autorouter in the background

Very fun idea, I had not considered training on existing work (IP is so sensitive I just couldn't think of a way to get enough) My approach is slightly different for building the dataset. I think we should bootstrap an absolutely massi

Love that you tried the tool and couldn't agree more. We think that new layout paradigms similar to flex and CSS grid need to be invented for circuit layout. This is an active area of research for us!

Believe in the cache! There's a reason most websites can be written in javascript now and not have major issues, the I/O bottleneck is more important than the raw computation. As long as the algorithm is cacheable (and this means

It is a really fun idea to build a boids router (shelving that for a future article!) I wrote previously about recursive pattern autorouters which are really good at having small solution spaces (and therefore, easier to get conventional ma

Software innovation in EDA seems pretty slow and is more IP-sensitive, so there hasn't been a huge proliferation of cloud services. We're trying to bring some up some standards that make EDA more web-friendly, like the Circuit JSO

The same way claude never outputs code that has a syntax error, the image transformers will output DRC compliant “images”! I think spatial partitioning can help solve issues with minor DRC violations as well- it should be easier to correct
