I have no idea where public transit “fails you completely several times a month” or what that failure mode is. If you mean transit can’t deliver you to your destination, that certainly isn’t the case in the Bay, Chicago or NY for any of my

My lived experience is that public transit is great. I take BART 5 days a week and have a 15 minute late experience once every few months. This to me is something like the “I can’t live in a city because I can’t afford a 2000 square foot de

Case in point, from the article: > Any API change had to be deployed simultaneously to all services using that API to avoid downtime, which often went wrong and resulted in long release cycles. There’s an easy solution to that problem, w

I agree with this experience, I learned everything I know on the job. I don’t hire any developer unless they can demonstrate they’re willing and able to deliver business value. Junior devs have a harder time demonstrating this ability.

Is having cars parked on the street out of place? I agree that bikes blocking pedestrian right of way is bad and needs to be stopped. The easiest way to do that is to replace some of the car parking with bike parking. The concept that a bik

The graphics are clearly critical - a plain ascii version wouldn’t convey the information as successfully. Personally, the animations drew me in. Basically all things can be reduced to a single sentence explanation, but that doesn’t mean a

Your proposed solution doesn’t resolve the issue you’re responding to, or a number of other issues I can think of. And it doesn’t resolve any issues for returns without receipt, which is definitely a large concern. I really don’t think Aust

I’m not sure that article says what you’re suggesting it says? Apple offered to "expedite [its] response to any legal process." It’s unclear whether they’re committing to unlocking the device. Judging by the prior case, I’m not co

In the US, the majority of streets have at least a lane of space taken up by parking. If half of that was offered to bikes there wouldn't be any bike parking issues.

The amount of space taken up by car parking makes me generally unsympathetic to complaints about bike sharing "taking up too much public space" - though perhaps there is less car parking in china.
