I am not sure that is true. As far as I understand, the communities in most places were small, everyone knew everyone, and people were vary of strangers. You couldn't come to a random village and start farming... and as far as I can te

The GP calls genetics "luck" in the context of dichotomy between being self made and luck... if genetics is luck, then what is left for "self"? Ability to work hard is also the product of genetics, upbringing and circums

If genetics is luck, then what is left for "self"? Willpower/grit/etc. is also environment or genetics, there's no self outside of that.

1) Where do you derive the data about "largely good opportunities at home"? Also, what does caste have to do with anything? The actual economic opportunity, quality of education, etc. is what should be compared. 2) Even in the les

But that would contradict the premise, wouldn't it? If an immigrant can "self select" from much worse conditions, why didn't an average poor American? And if it's smth like ability, then how is it not well deserved?

I don't think the author ever claimed there's no value in real police. It actually, ironically, matches the recent left-wing demands to defund. Let the police with their armored cars and helicopters handle real crime, like when yo

Well, is re-education better for society than removal? It's expensive and unreliable, whereas if you only consider the society of people whom we owe the respect of their negative rights (based on reciprocity), incarceration is cheaper

That really depends on how much I make full time and - very importantly - how it is taxed. As of today, I'd work 1.5 days for 30% of my salary (and I suppose 30% health insurance coverage? :)). Maybe even 1 day, tight but still doable.
