I don't think it'd take two years to learn cobol, it should be less than that. But it will take much more than that to learn the gnarly codebase in use in those shops... And that is a skill that is certainly not transferable.

As an aside, the illustration strongly remind me of the classic illustrations in the Alice in Wonderland book (published in 1865). I wonder if it is the same artist or if it was a shared style at the time.

Really? Maybe it's location dependent... I live in an European city, I have multiple butchers, bakeries and fruits and vegetables shops within walking distance. My area is most certainly not an upscale area, quite the reverse in fact.

Lord of The Rings cames to mind. It almost invented the Fantasy genre as we know it today. It is still very much appreciated, but I've found that some people think it is boring.

I have loved that book, but I seem to remember that it was based of historical research that has since been revised. Another good book that takes the side of Richard III is the historical novel "The Sunne in Splendour" by Sharon K

The onedrive app on Android has a "camera backup" functionality. It saves images and videos from any folder to the onedrive cloud. I've configured it, and then I sync the onedrive to a Synology Nas at home.
