Carbon taxation. The idea being that otherwise it’s an unpriced externality.

It’s already happening, a lot of countries are cutting down carbon emissions.

Young people need to follow the news less. It’ll play up any little issue for eyeballs.

Australia is fast turning into a police state. Feels like every other day I'm reading something about the gov't exerting more authority over its people.

A good strategy is to dip your toes in first, then plunge when you feel the moment is right and you get the sense that you are good at it (music, literature etc.). Work on whatever interests you part time / on weekends / before

Besides the point in the article, I want to point out how good the writing is. The author captured me from the first sentence and I read all the way thru.

It's a metaphor dude.

You can get some of the value thru company stocks, but yes, not all of it. Market still decides. This is what you "sacrifice" for a predictable paycheck... think you're worth more? You can always try making it on your own.

You think CEOs get formed as easily as engineers coming out of a bootcamp?

Why do you think that’s not happening already?

He has a point – which is that with remote work proving feasible and high salary expectations on the coasts, a lot of companies will be looking for talent elsewhere – either in the middle of the country, or on the same timezones outside of

The better analogy might be gold rather than the stock market, but I think your point holds.

Makes sense. I guess from a legal standpoint that's less risky than outright firing someone and getting slapped with a "retaliation" lawsuit...

Surprised they didn't fire him.

This might be a better argument for the crash than any of the 7 the author presented. (later edit: except for the 70% voting rights that Saylor still has – just read this further down)

I'd love to hear the one main argument against it. Throwing 7 arguments (some of them related) is throwing too large of a net. Is he hoping to get people convinced with at least one of the points resonating? IMO, in order (and happy to

Great idea! At some point in the past, I had spent... maybe 10-12 hours putting together a number of bodyweight + dumbbell exercises I picked up from YouTube. I used Giphy to record GIFs of the movement, and saved them all in a Trello dashb

http://www.micktagger.app I have a lot of Spotify playlists and I wanted an Alfred like tool to quickly add songs to my Spotify playlists, mostly using my keyboard. There was none out there that I was happy with, so I built it m

The counter argument here is that sound money is the foundation on which all other activities of value develop.

I believe the idea is that in a landfill those products will release CO2 and methane, whereas when composting they only release CO2. Methane is a more potent greenhouse gas, so that's another benefit to composting. https://r

Glad to hear about the improvements! Swift is a great language, I hope to someday get back to using it.

I've used Swift as the backend language for a side-project website around 2018-2019. I may be out of date, but I wouldn't recommend it. My main reasons: 1. The server-side frameworks are nascent and still changing – you will reall

Exactly – I think this is what my concern is as well. I think the best analogy for this is when AOC played Among Us and was the impostor. Was she going to turn her political mind to 100% and win the game, and in front of the world show &quo

I really enjoyed it, but imo it wasn't a total success. The problem with Among Us is that one of its mechanics is lying or deceiving. When playing with friends this may not really be a problem – it's all fun and games. But, in a w

I think you have zero-ed in on the right problem. In our remote team we have tried a number of these team-building games / airbnb experiences, but tbh: 1. I did not feel like I knew my teammates better after the experience, and 2. it
